Mission Statement

Our goal is to support Haitians, as people valued and loved by God, in developing skills, plans and ministries in order to provide for their physical and spiritual needs.

Where did the name Laman Outreach come from? Laman (pronounced la-mã) is the Haitian-Creole word for "manna," the bread that God provided His people in the wilderness. We want to continually recognize that God is the One who is providing for Haiti via Laman Outreach.

What We Do

Laman Outreach works alongside Haitians to develop plans and ministries that will benefit their own communities both physically and spiritually. We think it is essential that the people of Haiti develop their own plans since they are the ones who know their communities best. Laman Outreach then partners with community leaders to raise funds to see their dreams and goals become reality. Our initial project is a program to care for the elderly in the village of Merger de Sibert. Future projects include a medical clinic and a trade school for young adults.

Our Story

Hi! We are Denise and Kim, founders of Laman Outreach, Inc. We have been traveling to Haiti on mission trips with our church since Haiti's earthquake in 2010. God has given us an incredible love for the beautiful, resilient people of Haiti and a desire to help them feel valued and loved by God.

After traveling to the same village in Haiti several years in a row, we began to realize that these people had specific dreams and desires to improve their village and reach out to the poorest of the poor within their midst. We also realized that, although they have worthy intentions, they don't have the financial means to achieve these goals. We were burdened to help our friends in Haiti develop plans and ministries to help their own people grow and thrive physically and spiritually. It was out of this God-given burden that Laman Outreach was born.

In November 2015 Laman Outreach became incorporated and began the process of applying to become recognized as a 501c3 tax-exempt public charity. Laman Outreach's developmental first year ended in November 2016 during which many goals were met. Laman Outreach did indeed become recognized by the government as a non-profit organization, developed an attractive logo, established savvy social media accounts and website, and assembled a stellar Advisory Board. We are grateful to God for putting us in touch with so many people who have given of their time and talents to come alongside us in the formation of Laman Outreach.
